-Two years: Harrington Institute of Interior Design, Chicago.
-Three years: Columbia College, Chicago. Theater Department.
Some time ago I came across some old paint tubes from my Harrington color theory class, I painted some wood stuff that was
hanging around. A roommate said, 'Sell that stuff in stores!' The stores said I should paint stuff faster, not so perfect then I could afford to give them 50% of the 'suggested retail' price (then they often mark it up 200-300% anyway).
Instead, I started trading with friends, coworkers, friends of
friends, friends of coworkers...
Also worked faux finishing walls for designers, then did it on my own for a few years.
I began painting art-for-art-sake, acrylic on panel, about eight years ago. Big, abstract linear stuff of which I am very proud.
I was laid off two jobs in a row due to reengineering and work slow-downs and ... figured it was time to start something of my own.
I started judestuff.com over 10 years ago to pay for time for paintings. It has not exactly done that but, finally, I have managed to get several pieces done. Check out www.judtihgries.com, it's under construction.
Enough about me...
